As a custom hay baler I have been extremely impressed with B Dahl grass for forage and hay. It's considerably more productive than nearly any grass field I've baled, with some fields making 8-10 round bales per acre. It also seems to be a very efficient user of fertilizers. Some tests have shown better than 40 pounds of forage gain for every pound of nitrogen applied up to recommended rates!

This is a personal testimony to the B-Dahl that I have had growing on my farm in South Central Missouri for approx. the last 5 years. I sprayed the unwanted vegetation with a glyphosphate product twice, set it on fire, then spread approx. 3 to 4 ton of lime/acre and approx. 3 tons of chicken litter/acre. I plowed and worked the "ingredients" into the soil then rolled with a heavy roller. An "Easy flow seeder" was used to seed B-Dahl. About June when the weather gets hot the B-Dahl grows profusely. On an average rain fall year we generally average about 10 4x5.5 bales/acre. My cattle do very well on it and absolutely devour it. I would highly recommend B-Dahl as a forage.
